Mitsubishi Likely to Introduce a New Crossover

Plans are underway to introduce a new crossover to Mitsubishi’s line of automobiles in the near future. Mitsubishi Motors North America executive vice president Don Swearingen said at an interview with AutoGuide at the New York Auto Show that Mitsubishi is “studying a bigger crossover. Those studies are nearing an end. We haven’t made a decision if we’ll be bringing it to the US, but those studies will be concluded in the next six months.” Click for more images

Swearingen further confirmed that focus is more on plug-in hybrids moving forward and also gave a hint that any new model is likely to get a PHEV powertrain option.

You will recall that Mitsubishi recently introduced its new GC PHEV concept previewing a possible new SUV for the brand, with big dimensions and plenty of style, pairing a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with a hybrid drivetrain to make 335 hp and get as much as 35 mpg, while offering up to 25 miles of emissions free driving.
