In a move sure to excite dozens of potential buyers, Land Rover has announced that the 2016 Range Rover Evoque cabriolet is confirmed for production. According to the automaker, a production version of the concept, which debuted in 2012, will make its first public appearance at the upcoming Geneva motor show right alongside the refreshed non-convertible Evoque.
That’s great news for all Cross-Cabriolet owners and intenders saddened by Nissan's decision to take its drop-top crossover out of production! Beyond that, we’re not sure exactly which segment of the market a convertible soft-roader is supposed to serve. The more weird vehicles out there in the world the better, we suppose.
When Land Rover/Range Rover first showed off the Evoque cabrio concept, it said removing the roof would add about 165 pounds to the cute’s curb weight (that weight comes from all the bracing needed to keep the vehicle from flopping down the road). If that’s still true, it’ll sit just above the 3,800-pound mark. We assume the U.S.-bound version of the model will come equipped with a 2.0-liter gasoline inline-four.
