Renault
that had unveiled the first picture of its upcoming MPV - the Lodgy - is
planning to launch it in India by the end of this month. Just so you know, the
Lodgy is sold under Renault-owned Dacia brand globally, but in India it will be
re-badged as Renault Lodgy.
The
Indian version of the MPV is expected to receive some significant changes,
which will help Renault price it competitively. The company hasn't yet revealed
any information about the 7-seater MPV's engine options and other features; we
expect it to share its underpinning with other Renault products that are on
sale in India. The vehicle is likely to use the same 1.5-litre, 84bhp diesel
and 1.6-litre, that currently powers the Renault Duster, while the petrol
engine could be the Scala sedan's 1.5-litre, 98bhp unit.
Renault
believes that its upcoming MPV will redefine the segment as a complete
multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and deliver best-in-segment performance. Upon its
launch the Lodgy MPV will take on the likes of Honda Mobilio and Maruti Suzuki
Ertiga.
