Startech,
Brabus’ Jaguar Land Rover-focused tuning branch, released details on its newest
radical Range Rover pickup truck. To create this monstrosity, Startech chopped
the rear storage section off of a long-wheelbase Range Rover, and converted the
unused space into a truck bed. View more details and Photos after the cut...
The
new plastic-lined truck bed features 43 inches of load capacity, with another
23 inches of length when the tailgate is opened. The tailgate can be opened
remotely via key fob or from the cabin.
Being
a Brabus product, the Range Rover truck features a heavily modified exterior,
with Startech claiming 100 unique body elements custom fabricated for the truck
conversion. A wide body kit comes standard, giving the wheel wells and fenders
an aggressive overhang, with a smattering of carbon fiber trim pieces spread
throughout the exterior.
Engine
Performance:
The
Startech Range Rover truck is powered by the same 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 as
the donor Range Rover Supercharged, but features a 9 hp boost to 519 hp, made
possible through a more aggressive exhaust system. This allows the 0-60 time to
drop 0.2 seconds over the standard Range Rover model, from 5.5 seconds to 5.3
seconds.
Interior:
Startech
adds a quilted leather pattern for the seats, along with a collection of
Alcantara trim pieces. Bespoke carbon fiber trim extends through the cabin,
with colored stitching matched to the customer’s personal taste, or lack
thereof.
The Startech Range Rover
pickup is set to debut at the 2015 Shanghai auto show. While the debut model
will be a Supercharged variant painted in eye-searing red, the production model
will be available in all Range Rover interior and exterior colors and can also
be equipped with other engines from the Range Rover lineup.
