Auto Review: 2016 Kia Cadenza and The Promise of Exquisite Design

</div>
The 2016 Kia Cadenza belongs to the second generation, while the first model ever was made back in 2010. Since 2014, Cadenza is the fourth South Korean vehicle available in United States, alongside Hyundai Genesis, Kia K900 and Hyundai Equus. Beside the US, Cadenza is also available in Canada, China, Brazil and the Middle East. This model, also known as K7 in South Korea, will compete in the US luxury market with very competitive prices.

Under the hood of 2016 Kia Cadenza will be a V-6 engine with improved output of 340 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The transmission, on the other hand, will be new, as Kia plans to replace the current six-speed gearbox with a seven-speed, dual-clutch unit. As a result, the new Cadenza should be quicker from 0 to 60 mph and return better fuel economy. Its fuel consumption is rated at 19 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway and 22 miles per gallon combined. Top speed of the new Cadenza is rated at 130 miles per hour while to reach 0 – 60 mph it will need 6.9 seconds.

Exterior of the 2016 Kia Cadenza is slightly changed and looks more powerful. Its front end is revised and now features ice-cube fog lights and a new grille which gives to overall aggressive appearance. Some changes are visible on the rear too where it features new taillights and redesigned trunk-lid spoiler. Overall, the car looks more handsome and more modern. It is sure that this is not the last word of design that comes from KIA and we expect to see more improvements on future cars made by this manufacturer.

The interior is pretty much a mystery as of March 2015, but it is expected that Kia will “up” their game in the luxury and technology department with brand-new and updated features. Kia should keep the cabin’s design clean with fewer buttons and switches cluttering the center console. Much like the current car, the second-gen Cadenza will greet its customers with Nappa leather-wrapped seats, a leather-topped dash, chrome accents, and all the niceties usually found in premium German sedans.

The slightly longer wheelbase and slightly reconfigured interior layout is likely to bring increased legroom in the rear. Although hauling cargo was no problem for the 2015 Cadenza and its 15.9 cubic feet of space, Kia is likely to go for a larger trunk as well. Folding rear seats would be a nice addition compared to the current model, which only features a small opening that’s exposed when the center armrest is lowered.
