The
next Kia Optima sedan will debut at the New York auto show starting 1st
April. The company's best-seller originally appeared at the same New York auto
show some five years ago but the brand still looks fresh but needs a revamp.
Kia has not revealed specific information about the new model but we can anticipate
a few things based on previous models.
The
new model may stick to four-cylinder power unless there is a change to its
engine. The 2.4-liter in the more basic current-gen models makes 192 hp and 181
lb-ft of torque and returns 34 mpg on the highway.
The 2.0-liter turbo in the
upper-trim models delivers a healthy 274 hp and 269 lb-ft, and returns 31 mpg
on the highway. Six-speed automatic transmissions are a standard which we hope
to see continue as well. It won’t be a surprise to see a future hybrid version.
The
current Optima is, by far, the company's best seller. It moved more than 11,500
units last month alone, which is about the same figure as the Soul and Rio
combined.
The
2015 New York auto show will reveal more of this Kia bestseller. Find out more and
look forward to updates from AutoGists about the up-coming auto show.
