The Nissan Maxima’s Drowsy Alert Feature allows the wheel to warn you about falling
asleep when the car detects unusual behavior related to how the driver handles
the wheel — like when they stop making small corrections to the steering wheel
or slow down their movements all together — the dashboard pushes out an audio
and visual alert that says, "Take a Break?". Click to read more.
In
just a few minutes, the system learns motorists' driving habits and monitors
how they handle the steering wheel, so it knows when something is off.
Luxury-vehicle companies such as Mercedes-Benz already tout similar
drowsiness-detection features, but this is the first time it's coming to a
mid-range sedan.
Other
Nissan features include geo-fencing technology, which knows when a teenager
goes out of driving range if parents set limits on how far they can travel, and
an app that allows you to remotely start the vehicle, from wherever you are.
The infotainment system lets you swipe and move your GPS directions to your
dashboard, as well as updates you on sports scores and the stock market.
