The Mercedes-AMG GT: Sensual, Sporty and Superb

Here it is – the statement from Affalterbach: long bonnet, cockpit positioned far back, wide and powerful rear end. These are the proportions of a sports car from Mercedes-AMG. It lurks, hugging the ground. Its instinct is to rush forward. A character better experienced as the Mercedes-AMG GT and Mercedes-AMG GT S.

One look at the new Mercedes-AMG GT is all it takes to appreciate the car's perfectly judged proportions and dynamic styling. The long, sweeping bonnet with expressive front section creates poise and presence from the front. The distinctive glasshouse, set far to the back of the car features a sloping ‘fastback’ roofline and tail which accentuate the wide, powerful rear. At once elegant and athletic, this is a car that simply demands to be driven.

Exterior – uncompromisingly athletic.
With its very long bonnet, a greenhouse set well to the rear and extremely short overhangs, the Mercedes-AMG GT reveals classic sports car proportions. Its lines and surfaces are uncompromisingly puristic in design. An exciting interplay of flowing lines and curves creates a trendsetting design of sensual purity that makes the Mercedes-AMG GT a dynamic sports car.
Interior – compellingly sporty.
As soon as you climb into the Mercedes-AMG GT you are filled with the exciting sensation of driving a unique sports car. Materials, colours and styling add up to an impressive whole, which delights with its pure sporty appeal and an exclusive sensuality that makes it truly stand out. From the AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather and the AMG instrument cluster with carbon-fibre-effect backplates to the sculptural lines of the instrument panel, every interior element contributes to the car’s overall compelling appeal.

High Performance engine – the newly developed AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine.
The already outstanding performance of the Mercedes-AMG GT is boosted still further in the Mercedes-AMG GT S. The AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine with 375 kW (510 hp) and 650 Nm delivers a further 35 kW (48 hp) of output. The AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension is adjustable in three stages – from comfortable through to sportily taut. Further highlights include the electronic AMG rear axle differential lock with variable locking effect and the additional “RACE” transmission mode , which configures the vehicle systems to make them suitable for circuit racing.

AMG Dynamic Engine Mount
The AMG Dynamic Engine Mount is built To minimize the effects of engine movements on the chassis. The stiffness of the engine mounts is changed: Smooth when cruising or on way to work, hard when turning or in track performance.
AMG ELECTRONIC Rear Differential Lock
An electronically controlled AMG rear axle differential lock improves traction as well as driving stability in slaloms or when changing lane at high speeds. It also improves traction and vehicle stability. The Diff Lock reduces wheel slip on one side by transferring the surplus power to the other side, thus balancing the car.
Safety Lane Tracking.
The combination of Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist benefits safety on two fronts. The systems are able to provide the driver with visual and audible warnings of vehicles in the blind spot while vibrations through the steering wheel alert the driver when the vehicle is unintentionally drifting out of its lane.
Collision Prevention Assist Plus
The system gives the driver a visual warning if the distance from a vehicle in front is inadequate. On detecting the danger of a collision there is an acoustic warning, driver braking can be assisted and, if the driver fails to react, the speed can be reduced autonomously.
Attention Assist
The Mercedes-AMG GT meets the highest expectations in terms of all-round safety. It includes all equipment items of relevance to drivers with sporting ambitions. In addition, standard driver assistance systems such as COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS and ATTENTION ASSIST, along with options such as the Lane Tracking package or Traffic Sign Assist, serve to enhance handling safety and minimize stress on the driver. The robust suspension ensures optimum control of the vehicle, even at high speeds.
AMG Ceramic High Performance Brake
Extremely short braking distances, precise pressure point and very high fade resistance even in extreme operating conditions - the AMG ceramic high-performance compound brake system offers race track braking performance. It is immediately recognizable by the specially painted brake callipers in bronze colour with "AMG Carbon Ceramic" lettering. The discs in a carbon-fibre reinforced ceramic material are produced under vacuum conditions at 1700 degrees Celsius. The ceramic brake discs are around 40% lighter than conventional compound brake discs.
The Mercedes-AMG GT blends stunning performance with striking looks, inside and outside. The Mercedes-AMG GT S features uprated engine power and torque, enhanced handling, thanks to an electronic rear slip.
